About Us

Welcome to Oxley Primary School!

At Oxley, we offer a bright, fun, engaging learning environment where children can excel. Our children enjoy coming to school. They like being part of a welcoming community school with a strong team ethic, a place where everyone is happy to get “stuck in” and help each other.

It is a great privilege to lead a team of professional, talented and committed staff, who create inspirational learning opportunities for our amazing children. I have been the Headteacher of Oxley Primary since September 2014. Time and again, I have been complimented on our warm, friendly and positive atmosphere. Visitors to the school never fail to notice how happy the children and staff are. At Oxley, we have a clear and simple ethos:

Be Kind.

Be Brilliant.

Have an I can attitude.

Those three, powerful messages drive the whole school to make the most of each and every day, so that we can be the best possible version of ourselves. The simple motto “I can” is at the heart of all we do. It helps us to build resilience. Everyone – the children, staff, parents and governors – share this common sense of purpose. It enables children to approach their learning positively, spurring them on to achieve more than they sometimes thought possible!

Our children love to get involved and make a real contribution to day-to-day running of the school. For example, they support each others’ learning; our elected House Captains carry out lots of important responsibilities in school and act as great role models. We take part in lots of sports competitions, community events, and have an excellent track record in raising money for various charities. We are very proud of our caring and nurturing environment and our strong community links.

We want our children to be well rounded citizens of the 21st century! That’s why we continually review our curriculum to make sure that it is exciting, purposeful and creative. We like to have a sense of adventure, to enable children experience outdoor learning, take part in off site visits, meet special visitors to the school, experience residential visits and more. At Oxley, we place a high priority on children’s academic achievement, but we also value developing their creative, sporting and interpersonal skills.

New this year – I am proud to be able to offer wraparound care for students of the school which runs from 7.40am to 6.00pm Monday-Thursday and 7.40am to 5.15pm on a Friday during term time.

If you would like further details about our school or want to visit us and see for yourself what everyday excellence looks like at Oxley, do not hesitate to contact us. Our contact details are at the top of the screen.

We hope you enjoy visiting our school as much as our staff love working here and as much as our children love coming here. I look forward to welcoming you to our school.

HOUSE POINTS

MAPLE

WILLOW

OAK

BEECH

At Oxley, all the children and staff are placed into four Houses: Beech, Maple, Oak and Willow. Each House also has House Captains, who are children from Year 6 who have been elected by the rest of the children in their House. Being a House Captain is an important role in our school. They act as role models to the rest of the children and help make important decisions with the Headteacher, for example, deciding what the focus will be for our weekly “Top Tribe” competition.

Children can earn House Points during the week. Every Friday, the House Captains add up the total number of points and announce this to the school in our celebration assembly. You will see the current total number of points so far this academic year displayed on this page. At the end of each term, the House with the most points is awarded the House Trophy.

On Sports Day, children compete to earn points for their houses, which also goes towards the overall total for the year.
